Available Workshops and Classes

Clown - Learn the comedic techniques of famous buffoons and tramps! In this workshop, you will delve into the absurd and hilarious mind of the clown - fall in love with the delight and joy of the clown and develop your own clown character that you can perform anywhere! Filled with delight and humor, this workshop is great for clown novices and experiences clowns alike!

Commedia dell’Arte - Many people recognize the names “Arlecchino,” “Pantalone,” and “Pulcinella,” but who are they? What does Commedia Dell’Arte have to do with modern theatre, anyway? In this workshop, participants will learn the history of this Renaissance form of theatre and dive into the personaggi (stock characters), canovacci (scenarios), lazzi (physical gags and humorous bits), character improvisation, and the impact that this all’improvviso form of theatre has had on Western theatre traditions.

Creating a Character - In this workshop, participants will focus on embodying the forces of the natural world and the ways in which these forces move in the human body. By understanding the “natural elements,” the animal kingdom, and other sources of natural inspiration, students will become more in touch with their own bodies and how the world around them is an unlimited font of inspiration for their creativity. From this beginning, they will then learn different methods of creating unique and fascinating characters from scratch!

Games & Play - Games are a lot of fun and can teach us a great deal about how to work with others! In this workshop, you will dive into playful, imaginative worlds with others while also improving your cooperation, coordination, and creative skills. Participants will explore interpersonal dynamics, power structures, and cooperation through a study of a variety of both traditional and non-traditional games. While playing these games, participants will use different methods of analysis to delve into what can be learned through play.

Juggling - Make your own set of juggling balls, and impress your family and friends with your newly discovered talent! Learn a new hobby and get some tips from juggler pros, so that you can continue to improve your skill even after the workshop has ended. Over the course of this workshop, you will learn how to juggle solo as well as how to juggle in pairs!

Musical Theatre - Embark on an adventure into the world of musical theatre! Students will act, sing, and dance up a storm, learning new tricks and improving their technique! Each student will have an opportunity to flex their performance muscles in a fun environment where everyone has a chance to shine and show off their stuff! At the conclusion of the workshop, students will perform a musical number for an audience! No prior theatre experience necessary.

Slapstick - It's time to get slap-happy! Slapstick is a type of physical comedy characterized by broad humor, absurd situations, and vigorous and violent action. You will learn some basics of stage comedy and how to safely "slap," "hit," and "pummel" your friends and colleagues!

Storytelling - Have you always wanted to try solo performance? Or do you enjoy entertaining people by telling tales (whether real or fictional), but want to learn how to improve your technique? In this workshop, you will learn how to craft and refine compelling stories that will dazzle your audiences! The workshop starts with some writing exercises and then moves into embodying the story in a theatrical setting. This class is a great way to delve into creating a one-person show!
