Laying Down Roots
in the Twin Cities
Celebrating 5 Years of FREE Theatre Arts!
We would like to express our gratitude for your unwavering support as we approach our fifth year as a theatre company. Our theme for this holiday season is "Laying Down Roots" - just like a tree, we are seeking to expand our roots deep into the soil of the Twin Cities so that we can reach new heights. We will be expanding our programming to include more free theatre performances and education, and we can't wait to see what the future holds - but we can only do this with your help!
With your generous financial support, CAHOOT?! Physical Theatre can grow from a seed to a luscious, solid oak and offer more free theatre performances and education to everyone in the Twin Cities community! Our goal for the rest of 2023 is to raise $2000. Can we get there together? Join us as we remount A Red Herring, provide more educational opportunities, build international partnerships, develop new works, and make high-quality theatre arts programming available to everyone.
Last winter, we experienced a "Season of Change" that allowed us to make significant strides as a company. Internally, we have strengthened our collaboration by clarifying roles and agreements. We also developed more robust financial and project management systems. Thanks to your support, we have scaled our annual operating budget up to $15,000 for 2023. Additionally, after five years of hard work and dedication, we have transitioned from being a fiscally sponsored project to our own independent 501c3 nonprofit company! This milestone would not have been possible without your unwavering support throughout our journey.
2023 saw the world premiere of CAHOOT?!’s second original full-length production: A Red Herring. This comedic mystery noir was performed for one weekend at the Gremlin Theatre in May. A Red Herring’s development began in 2019, but was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. But CAHOOT?! stuck with the project and revived the story and characters to finally bring them to life to over a hundred audience members free-of-charge. But this isn’t the end for private eye Salty Sloane McNulty. Keep your eyes peeled for exciting announcements! With your support, we can bring Salty to more people – for free!
Our team of five has been working hard to create something new and amazing – a podcast called CAHOOT?! Auditory Theatre (also known as "CAT"). We've been writing original scripts and stories, and we're thrilled to bring them to life through Foley effects, music, and our voices. Each podcast episode will feature a different story crafted by one of our team members. The first episode, “Inspection at the Washington Dam”, is available NOW on Spotify, YouTube, and our website, and new episodes will be released monthly. By supporting us, you're helping us bring these free audio performances to audiences everywhere!
